Compensation Plans: the good, bad and ugly!
This section is open to all visitors as a public service and as a useful example of the kind of unique and authoritative training and practical support enjoyed by our members.
It explores the different types of network marketing compensation plans and why, as a former professional management consultant to network marketing companies, I've chosen the Flantech Compressed Unilevel Compensation Plan as my personal preference — the fairest and highest-paying type of compensation plan* available.
Before we begin, though, there are some important facts and insights you need to know in order to understand the ugly reality of the present crop of compensation plans… and why they're geared against the part-time distributors who represent more than 90% of all network marketers, yet receive less than 10% of all bonuses paid by those plans!
1. There are NO perfect compensation plans…
… just better or worse than others. (They were all designed by human beings, after all.) And people fail and succeed with all types of plans. Unfortunately, most fail and only a handful succeed, largely because of those plans. But there are key indicators that can tell you whether a particular plan — or plan type — is better or worse than another, provided you know what to look for. Fewer than 1% of all network marketers know what to look for or what danger signs to avoid. (Is it any wonder that more than 90% fail to make a profit?)
So in our examinations of each plan type — not specific company plans (except the Flantech compensation plan) — we'll look not only at the structure and how it works, but at the psychology and powerful emotional appeals that underlie it. We'll also look at the plausible spin used to promote each one — and the hidden realities that few people ever know about, and that companies and upline leaders never talk about! (I wonder why?)
2. Why Fourth Generation business systems are so much safer, easier, better and smarter than First, Second or Third Generation business systems — and why almost all MLM opportunities are only FIRST Generation!
Albert Einstein said “Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.” This is absolutely true of network marketing. In recent years there's been a lot of attention paid to the idea that we need to find new ways of conducting ourselves in order to raise the standard of professional conduct, and the public perceptions and opinions of MLM. So we've had "new" versus "old-style" network marketing, along with a range of campaigns from various leaders. This is just tinkering around the edges.
The problem lies much deeper than just the behaviour of network marketers. The real issue that needs fixing is the universal LACK of understanding of WHY the system works. Ask any network marketer, company executive or even company founder to define WHY it works and they'll immediately begin to describe HOW it works.
They're totally different things!
And until the industry wakes up to this reality, it will remain a FIRST Generation business system trying to present itself as a FOURTH Generation business system — which can never work. It's like trying to turn a motor car into a jet fighter by giving it a fresh coat of paint!
Fourth Generation systems can never be made to work properly using FIRST Generation principles.
